Introducing Project Valhnot

I’m excited to introduce a recent, full scale project I’ve been working on. Before I dive into the details, let me explain where the project name comes from.

The client is a lover of wood, and has a special affinity to walnut specifically. The project name (Valhnot) is the old Norse word for walnut. A beautiful black walnut wood will be prominently featured in the kitchen and bits of it repeated elsewhere. Thus, the project is aptly named.

Most of the planning stage of the project is complete, and now we wait for the manufacturing of cabinets, the delivery of furniture, the scheduling of trades, etc.

The renovation will begin mid June, so I hope to give you some updates as we begin that process.

The project involves a renovation of the main floor of the client’s home with a focus on the kitchen and main living space. Significant changes will be made to the kitchen, including a reworking of the overall layout. A wood-burning stove will also be added to the living room area. This cozy feature was a top priority for the client, and will really set the tone for the space.

Here's a look at a few finishes for the project - some confirmed and others pending. Finding just the right finishes and bringing it all together takes time and patient editing.

I look forward to seeing this project come to life! And feel free to find me on social media for other details and updates if you're interested.
